You will read Chapter 9 and you will choose one of the questions listed below. No more than two persons should choose the same question. So if two people have already chosen a specific question, you should choose another one to respond to.
 
Type in the number of the question of your choice, e.g. Question 1, Question 2, etc.
 
Answer the question citing support from your textbook page references in parenthesis. Write your response in a minimum of 300 words.

What would be an appropriate response to a student who kicks a teacher? Read the section Protection Against Assault. When are suspensions and expulsions allowed? (p. 281).

What advice would you give to a teacher who has a unique way of dressing and grooming which gives him personal satisfaction, but seems weird and unacceptable to many of the parents of the school who feel their children may be influenced to dress or groom themselves as this teacher. Should this teacher subject himself to the apparent conservative standards of the parents or should he ignore the restrictions the parents are attempting to put on him? (pp. 269-271).

In this assignment, you have the opportunity to share your ideas about historical influences on education. Chapter 3 provides a global historical perspective on the purposes, methods, and content of education in several cultures.
 
This assignment gives everyone the opportunity to reflect on what you read in Chapter 3 about education in the various cultures and compare them with what education is like in your territory.
 
To do so collaboratively, you will choose one of the cultures below. No more than one person can select the same culture. If one person in the class has already chosen a given culture, you should choose another one.
 
Describe the purposes, methods, and content of education in that culture. Explain how it compares with education today. For example, if you choose Islam, Arabic Learning, and Education, you will do the following:

What are some methods that this religion and culture use to educate the students?
What is the content of their education?
How does what they do in schools compare with current trends in education today?
Which of these cultures is most similar to yours and one reason why?
