I chose to start my presentation using a PowerPoint presentation. Each slide will contain less than five lines and no more than five words in each line. This is because most people may not listen and read simultaneously, and I want to avoid putting them in a situation they must choose. The lines will contain enough information to remind the audience of the point. The PowerPoint will be in font 28, and some slides containing pictures. According to Rezigalla & Ahmed (2019), using pictures in PowerPoint presentations increases the likelihood of remembering taught information by 50% and reduces explanation by 40%. I will finish the PowerPoint in under 15 minutes to maintain their attention. Nevertheless, the PowerPoint will contain statistics to support the importance of self-management. I will also give the audience some handouts containing information about a healthy lifestyle, including consuming vegetables and fruits and exercising for at least 150 minutes weekly. I will also have some sample nutritional labels to educate them on how to read them properly. Most people engage in unhealthy lifestyles, such as smoking and consuming unhealthy food. Hence, everyone may be interested to learn about wellness, prevention, and management of their disease states. Education on these chronic diseases will help improve patients’ motivation to engage in an intervention that increases their chances for positive outcomes.
