It’s a lot of details about what happened…and you were diligent in getting all the facts. You’ve been told you have to write a story that will be posted on the website ASAP. You’re sitting in your car, laptop open, and you start typing.
Loop 101 collision
Two people are dead and dozens more injured in an 18 vehicle collision pile-up on
the 101 in the west Valley. The crash caused major back-ups during rush hour.
The accident occurred at around 6:45 a.m. According to police, the major accident
included 14 cars and four tractor trailers, one of which was a tanker with diesel

dump any fuel or catch on fire.” Wei said the truck part of the tanker was hit, but
the driver managed to safely stop along the side of the road and also escape
without injuries. The 24 injured people were taken to area hospitals and two were
in serious condition. They were flown by the “Life Flight” helicopter to the Maricopa
Medical trauma in south-central Phoenix. Fire Chief Tony Sullivan said all five of the
fire department’s ambulances and several from nearby city departments were called
to the scene. “The crash scene looked like something from a war zone,” said Sullivan.
He added firefighters had to cut the roof off of several cars to free drivers trapped
According to Police Sgt. Wei the accident closed the entire highway in both
the north and south directions.
