Discussion Topic
Identify a business which used innovation to disrupt an industry. Discuss the business, the industry, and the innovative product or service. How did the company disrupt the industry? How did the disruption affect competitors? Please do not rely on companies discussed in Bateman, Snell, and Konopaske (2020).
Support your responses with an explanation of some of the theories and concepts that we have discussed during the course. For example, did the organization’s respect for diversity or inclusion inspire innovation? Did the innovation relate to corporate social responsibility? Is there a leadership style that is more related to innovation or disruption than others? Which strategies helped to create a culture of innovation in the organization? Which theories of motivation were implemented to encourage innovation? To what extent were employees given the freedom to fail?
